NUW NSW is rallying behind the We Won’t Wait campaign to legislate 10 days paid domestic violence leave.
Did you know, family and domestic violence is the leading cause of death, disability and illness among women aged 15-44 years? Greater than cancer or heart disease – and yet access to paid Family and Domestic Violence Leave is limited.
Martin Cartwright NUW NSW Secretary says that “We all need to play our part in this campaign to assist those who are suffering from domestic violence. There is no place for domestic violence in our society! Providing paid leave is the least that employers can do to support their staff in these horrific circumstances. We stand with our fellow Unions in asking the Fair Work Commission and Governments to legislate 10 days domestic violence leave, and we won’t wait. Australians need this and they need it now.”
Paid Family and Domestic Violence Leave means a woman can access support services so she can leave. It means she can attend court, doctor’s appointments, meet with real estate agents, change her children’s school, all without the fear of losing her job.
