NUW NSW members at J.D.E Coffee in Kingsgrove are celebrating a fantastic win by swiftly securing a new and improved EBA.

Workers were happy to roll over their already comprehensive and fair agreement for a further 3 years. However, they also wanted to add on top of this a clause for 10 days paid Family and Domestic Violence Leave.

NUW NSW Organiser, Dave Humphries stresses the importance of including domestic violence leave in all workplace agreements. “Domestic violence leave is a critical clause for our members. Without paid leave, they can’t afford to remove themselves from dangerous family situations. Leaving a violent relationship takes on average $18,000 and 141 hours – so paid Domestic Violence Leave is essential for the safety and welfare of all our members.”

Management accepted this proposal to add the clause for Domestic Violence Leave as well as a 3% pay increase per annum. This is an outstanding result for our members at J.D.E coffee. Mr Humphries says “J.D.E Coffee is a perfect example of when members and a company can work together to achieve a favourable outcome for everyone.”
